MEST 2013 Opening Ceremony.

السلام عليكم

This post was supposed to be published on 26th February 2013.

Oh wow! It had been more than a month since I last register for my final semester in CFS IIUM. I'm just glad that I was still in the same room with my beloved room mates. Sadly, one of our friend, Aini had left us to pursue her study in Economics in Gombak campus :( The room felt a little dull without the agile Aini :(

My time was quite pack this semester. Now I just realize that this would be my first post since I enrolled in this semester. I have to admit there was lots of time constrain. This sem I'll be taking 4 subjects; Biology 2, Chemistry 2, Computer 1 and English for Academic Writing (EAW).

Once I step in the first week on the semester, there were tons of meeting to attend. There was also meeting held at 11 PM due to the lack of time space.

So yeah, I'll be transporting you back in the past.

MEST stands for MEDCY Sports Tournament. MEDCY is Medical Sciences Student Society.

Thank you to a friend, he had offered me to be the emcee for the MEST Opening Ceremony. He contacted me through Facebook during the 3 months break. At first I thought he was joking! XD Anyway, I told my Mom about it and she really encouraged me to do it.

"Hmm, it is a once lifetime experience. But it had been ages since I exposed myself in public, in a big event. It will somehow be awkward and nerve wrecking. However, this also means I got to free myself from the cocoon composed, to emerge as a beautiful butterfly." Ohh gitu =.='

I think the hardest part was to prepare the text. There wasn't much sample of emcee text in the Internet. I tried Google-ing it with different kind of keywords, but didn't serve me well. Luckily, there was a few that I can refer to. However, it was all like playing a puzzle, connecting a bit from here and there.

Mind you this was my first time conducting an event, ALONE! My friend did ask if I need a co-emcee. I thought it would be a simple event, so having a co-emcee would somehow be a bit messy.

Voila! An emcee speech was produced. Later I'll share it with you, InsyaAllah :)

So the day of the event had arrived. It was on the 23rd of January 2013, Wednesday. Before the event started, we had a rehearsal around 5.30 PM. I tried standing in front of the microphone. Oh myyyy!!! It was terrifying! It feels like the microphone was about to swallow me wholly!!! I know it was not possible. Just being a bit dramatic.hihihihi It just that it really had been a LOOOONNNNGGG time since I even hold a microphone. *sighed* Brought back all the memories back in high school :'(

Let's proceed huh? What happened on that day?

Yours Truly :)
Also, during the the rehearsal, I was touched by the committee members who were kind enough to decorate my rostrum with sweet lilies :') I just knew them early that evening, but they were more than willingly to get creative and spend their time decorating it :') Thanks korang. Terharu sangat :')

As mentioned earlier, I was sooooo freaking nervous before the event. I know I had practiced TONS of time. I got my Mom to hear it, and both of my roommies too. Thanks bebs! *winks* If there was any possible free time, I'll get my speech text and practice. I believe I can do it. However, the nervousness was still there.

My personal antidote for nervousness to be in front of audience is to just act as if I was talking to a friend, but only louder by using a microphone. Fortunately, there were some familiar faces in the audience. Moreover, I will tune myself to the crazy mood so that I won't think about it too much.

Another thank you is for a really nice karate junior of mine named Wani. She was there the whole time besides me before and during the speech. Before the event, she was there helping to calm me down. She was also the one who said, "Kak Hanie, maybe slow sikit kot baca tu". Yes, I do tend to speak fast.hihihihi Wani, being there, really meant a lot  :')

That's Waniiiii!!! :D

That's me! Emmcee-ing :D

Not many brothers.
I love the fact that they named the houses based on cell's membrane and organelles. So the biologyyyy (Y) Also, every houses' logo was based on Islamic ancient arsenal. How cool is that?! ;D

From top: CYTO! (purple), MYTO! (red), NUCLEO! (green), RIBO! (blue).

The Programme Coordinator who gave the golden opportunity to me; Dr. Syahir. Sorry, he's taken :P

Two of my favourite team captains ;)

Going out from my room that night to go to the hall was dreadful enough. (Imagine the nerve!) I am very blessed that I have friends who never stop believing in me. Who were there when I was in need. True friends indeed. They were there accompanying through every steps. Thank you. No words can utterly describe how truly blessed I am to have you girls :')
