KOPI VOSIAN !

It means GREETINGS! in Kadazan Dusun, our tour guide yang ajar. My Sabah trip, from 16th -19th Dec 2010.

Before going to Sabah there was a conversation between NURFHARA NADIA and me;

Me: Aku gi Sabah esok. Bye!
She: Ok. Have fun. Jangan lupa bawak balik lelaki Sabah untuk aku.
Me: Eh, tak cukup ke lelaki kat Semenanjung nih?
She: Takde la, saje nak buat collection.

Basically, aku gi Sabah mencari lelaki untuk dijadikan souvenir untuk NADIA. On the plane there was this cute air steward. Ingatkan nak bawak dye balik, tapi pehhh! Perfume dye semerbak, 2 meter dah bleh bau. Sangat menyengat hidungku. So, tak jadi bawak balik. Sori Nadia :P

First day we touched down to KK, we went to a local restaurant, which served chicken curry yg sedap gle. Kari dye masak style melayu nye, tak banyak sgt spices mcm mamak nye. My nenek and Nek Com siap tambah nasi lagi sebab kari th sedap sgt. My dad plak siap bungkus balik kari yg xtra th and we had to stop at a supermarket sebab nak beli roti cecah ngan kari, typical Malay kn? HAHAHA.

Then, we went to Gunung Kinabalu. It was actually my second time there, but this time I got to stay one night there. It was fun. Sejuk gle and kabus dye kalah Genting Highlands. Kat sane for the first tyme, I watched The Young Victoria. Aaaawwhhh! Prince Albert! He made me screamed mutely because he was so damn sweet. He fell in love with Victoria at the first sight, though I do think that he had fallen for her before he met her; he had seen her from a drawing. He was also willing to sacrifice his life for the sake the queen of his heart when a maniac tried to shoot her. Victoria scolded him for his unthinkable act. But Albert’s ayat2 were so sweet! Tp paling kesian Albert was gle2 in love with Victoria, but he can’t proposed her as she was the Queen of England. So, he had to wait painfully for her to proposed him, gle kn?

Sepanjang trip kat Sabah we got to ride on a mini bus. (There were 16 of us) Yup, the whole bus just for us only. The next few days we enjoyed ourselves back in KK. We check-in at our hotel which was located at the heart of KK city. Around our hotel was crowded with shopping complexes and shopping streets. We went to Suria Sabah, ala-ala Suria KLCC la. How I missed my dear KLCC. Dah lame gle tak kluar shopping. Memang sakan gle la aku shopping, lepas gian wehh. Yelah, since SPM ak tak kluar shopping mane2 pown. HHAHAHA. That night after dinner we went to Gaya Street. There, they held this Christmas carol carnival. Most of the things sold there, the profits will be given to the church and to help the unlucky ones. Paling klaka was when we were walking through a sea a people, ade this group of boys, Bridget sumting (I don’t remember la) giving free bags to people around there. He said this is free. Masalahnye, tetibe ckp bag th free and tyme tengah orang sesak2 th la dye nak bgi. I said no, thank you. Pastu dengar dye cakap kat kawan dye, “The more far we go, no one wants the free gifts”. HAHHAHA.

The next day we went to Philipino Market, shopping la! Pearls! Pearls! Pearls! Siap carikan stu set jewelries untuk awek kazen ak.hahaha.petang th we went to Sg Likas to see the Proboscis monkey or also known as the Monyet Belanda. What so special with this monkey? It has this very long mancung nose (very mat saleh) and perut yang buncit. And there is none at the zoo, only found at the Kepulauan Borneo. Why? Because this type of monkey live in a herd and they will die in boredom, alone in the zoo. Cool coz we got to ride on the speed boat and hunt for the monkeys which were safely living in their habitat. Bukan la kterang hunt and kill the monkeys, tapi hunt as in we had to search the monkeys on the lush green trees. At night, we hopped on the boat again after our dinner to see the fireflies. It was AMAZING. It was my very first time experiencing the kelip2, they were like the lights on a Christmas tree, LAWA gle! And so romantic. Our tour guide told us that the fireflies yang kelip2 laju th was the female and yang kelip2 perlahan th yang male. Malam th went back to KK and had our supper at the kedai mamak next to the hotel. Cool gle because the football match between Malaysia and Vietnam was on, and it was the first tyme for us to watch the match together. Thankfully, MALAYSIA WON, Malaysia Boleh!

Sunday morning, Pasar Tamu Ahad at Gaya Street. Things there were a lot cheaper than their normal prices, still you have to bargain for a cheaper price. Kat KL memang tak dapat jumpa pasar macam nh, coz they sold pets kat situ. Dogs, cats, hamsters, tortoises, fishes, and even chickens-yang still bleh berkokok nye la. Then, we went to the Mari-Mari Culture Village which was located at Tuaran, about 1 and half hour drive from KK. Each tour group must have a CHIEF. (obviously we all pilih atuk) TAPI, the chief must be a strong man because our chief must face the village’s chief-that was what our tour guide said, every tour group will get their personal tour guide from the Mari-Mari Culture Village. If the village’s chief tak suke atuk, he will ask atuk to fight him. If he like atuk, he will shake hands with atuk and put his hand on atuk’s shoulder. If atuk can’t fight him, atuk can ask other men of the family to fight the village’s chief. Haa, cuak la sume orang coz the village’s chief was a head hunter. Chief kne lead the way. Sampai at the first house, tetibe AAAHHHHHHH! Ade orang jerit. Cuak gle, terkejot la sume org.

“Siapa kamu? Daripada mana kamu? Buat apa kamu ke mari?”. Paling best atuk ak pasang strategi, “Nama saya Abdul Halim, maksudnya LEMAH-LEMBUT. HAHHAHA.

But seriously, it was all just an act. They were all actors yang kje kat sane. Saje je nak bwat cuak. But it was so creative. We got to do different activities at every different ethnic house we visited. We got to masak ayam dalam buluh and got to taste it; our own cooking, see the traditional fire making using the bamboo, learn how they made cloth using the tree bark, taste the ‘kuih jala’ (a.k.a. kuih karas kat semenanjung) and air pandan (it is believe that it can treat insomnia and make us awet muda), blow the ‘sumpitan’ and jump on the hand-made bamboo trampoline (any man who plans to marry the chief’s daughter must jump high enough to grab on an object usually chicken on the trampoline). The bamboo trampoline was seriously cool gle!

At the end of the trip, we were entertained by the cultural performance. We also got to learn the bamboo dance, yang you have to jump between the bamboos and prevent your feet from getting terkepit kat situ. My dad and I tried it. OK la. Mula2 th slow, bleh la dapat tangkap. Tetibe laju, terkjot la ak. Terus hilang rhythm. HAHAHAH. Nseb tak terkepit kaki ak.

OK promoting tyme: “In a nut shell, my trip to Sabah was splendid, especially when you had the opportunity to be with your loved ones-that’s the most important thing. Whenever you went to Sabah, do visit the Mari-Mari Culture Village. It had just opened 2 years ago and was established by our own bumiputera. Ade pave way that linked to every houses yang kte pegi, so don’t worry if it was raining, but you have to wear raincoat which cost about RM5. The entertainer there was so friendly and some were very cute. All the ethnic houses had their originality preserved. You can learn lots of things there and experience it firsthand. Mari-Mari Culture Village is worth going.”
